Due to Covid I was stuck on Koh Tao – which was the best thing that could’ve ever happend to me, but that’s another story. The island Koh Tao is famous for its beautiful diving and snorkeling sites. It truly is a peaceful paradise – whitesand beaches, jungle hikes and delicious food. One of my favourite spots was Coconut Monkey. Located in Mae Haad area it’s the perfect place to chill or even to work. I literally spent almost every day at Coco Monkey and enjoyed the vibes. Find out why this place is incredible…

How to get there?

When you’re standing at Mae Haad pier facing the island just go to the right – away from Sairee beach.

Why is it so special?

The main reason why I love this place so much is because they have so many vegan and vegetarian food options for a reasonable price. Not to forget the dessert fridge, which is filled with vegan chocolate truffles, banana bread or banoffee pie (YES, this is only quarter of it). Apart from the food, the whole atmosphere and location is just amazing. You can sit on the beach and listen to the sound of the waves or you spend your time in the cafe. Wooden interior, chilled music vibes, soft breeze – should I stop now? Oh, another fact I really like is that you can get free water refills with your TrashHero bottle. AND the lovely staff.

Looking for things to do on Koh Tao? Here are my top five recommendations!

The menu

Let me give you some nice buzzwords regarding the food: tofu scramble, homemade cashew pesto, homemade multigrain bread, mushroom jerky, rainbow buddha bowl – it’s paradise for people who love eating healthy, nutritious and plantbased. Also the meat eaters (no offense, I don’t like labelling) will find good food here.

Work on Koh Tao

As already mentioned I spent my time at Coconut Monkey also because it’s a great place to work. You have plenty of options to sit down and some spots come with a socket, so you’re not running out of power. You’re welcome to be at Coco for hours, so you don’t get the feeling that you have to leave once your drink is empty. I wouldn’t recommend this place though if you have to do phone calls or if you need silence while working. Last but not least the Coco Monkey opening hours: 08:30 am – 5 pm.

Arbeitsplatz im Cafe mit Steckdosen

For me Coconut Monkey was three things in one: Workplace, Foodplace and a home away from home. A must visit place once you’re on Koh Tao!
